A few months ago I moved into an apartment with 3 other girls that I didn’t know beforehand. In that time we have gone through some obstacles and learned a lot about each other. I know that many other people are put in the same situation that I was thrown into, so I thought it might be a good idea to share some easy ways that you can bond with your college roommates. Hopefully then, your living arrangements will be much more tolerable!

Watch A TV Show Together
A great way to unwind after a long day at school and work is to watch TV with your roommates. You can choose between binging a Netflix show or watching a new one as it airs on TV. Then, each week you have something to look forward to. Plus, it’ll give you something to talk about between episodes.
Have A Bible Study
What better way to bond with your college roommates than to come together in The Word!? There are some great devotionals out there for college women that can help you dive deeper into your faith. The great part about having a bible study with your roommates is that you can be held more accountable since you see them every day.
Decorate Your Apartment
My roommates and I bonded over making our space more like a home. You can take a trip to HomeGoods or Marshals and pick out some of your favorite pieces. This is a great way to get a feel for each other’s styles as well. We kept our apartment simple with a few throw pillows and wall hangings. The best part is you can do a little at a time and continue to bond while decorating.
Pamper Yourselves
College can be stressful with papers and exams and everything in between. A perfect way to bond with your college roommates is to pamper yourselves. You can do this by grabbing your favorite face masks and having a DIY spa night at home. OR you could head to the nail salon and chit chat while someone else pampers you:)
Grab Some Dessert
This is by far one of my favorite ways to bond with anyone. If you love sweets, I automatically feel closer to you! Okay, so that might sound a little silly but it’s true. Since I always have a sweet tooth, desserts are a perfect way to bond with my college roommates. Our go-to dessert is Cinnabon! Cinnabon is the ooey, gooey bestie that’s always there for you. Quite simply—in a world full of adulting— it’s the little escape you crave and deserve. In our latest girls night, we all sat around enjoying our Cinnabon and laughing together. This was honestly the best way to bond after a long week at school. We were able to let loose and enjoy our tasty treats together.
My absolute favorite part is that Cinnabon’s goal is to spread warmth and celebrate connections that make life sweeter. Well let me just tell you, their mission was accomplished with our latest girls night! Do yourself a favor and add Cinnabon to your next girls night!
DIY Together
My roommates and I have bonded over our mutual love for crafting. This can be done in a number of ways. You can find old furniture on Facebook Marketplace and work together to repurpose it for your new apartment. We have even done seasonal decorations like a fall wreath for our door. Express your creativity and add your own personal style to your creations to give your home more character.
Side note: I understand that not everyone will be friends/close with their roommates. These are just some ideas to hopefully allow you to live together in peace at the very least. Feel free to check out this post that is all about roommates in college for a more in-depth look at roommates.
